The new park board was officially appointed at the meeting of the Trimble County Fiscal Court on May 16, the culmination of applications the court asked for after last month’s meeting.

Appointed are Dustin Fryman, Ryan Stenger, and Bridgett Perkins, term ending June 30, 2024; Brent Taylor, Joel Whitice, and Kyle Pitts, term ending June 30, 2025; and Bobby Couch, April Craig, and Brandy Hudgens, term ending June 30, 2026.

All terms begin July 1 of this year. The members represent various organizations that use the park, such as youth leagues.

One issue brought to fiscal court by resident Trish Zink was the horse arena at the fairgrounds, which she described as “not suitable for horse shows right now” and a “very expensive cat litter box” in its current condition.

According to the Kentucky Horse Council, a grant was received and work was done on the drainage system in 2021. The KHC reviewed the area on May 10 and provided suggestions of what should be done to improve the arena. Furthermore, maintenance must be done to keep it safe.

The situation is still ongoing. Fiscal court is hoping to have it operational for this summer’s fair.
